I’m doing a presentation on using Mercurial for Source Control.

Mercurial is a distributed source control tool that has excellent Windows and Visual Studio support, awesome merge capabilities, and is free.

I will also spend some time talking about Subversion, which is another free and excellent source control tool, and comparing and contrasting with Mercurial.

If I have time, I will also compare with Git.

Our speaker at our next meeting will be Karl Goodhew.

Karl is a Scrum Master certified lead developer for The Home Depot based in Atlanta. He leads a team of 8 developers within the homedepot.comdepartment with active development on two consumer facing apps on both the Android and iPhone platforms. Prior to The Home Depot, he worked for various companies as a contractor working in the mobile space including Tyco Electronics and IHG. Karl also works with smaller companies and has several apps in both stores. Karl graduated from the University of Georgia.

Karl is giving a presentation on Android Development.

We are having a last minute .NET User Group Meeting tonight at 7PM.

I'll be giving a presentation on creating jQuery and jQueryUI plugins. Plugins are how we can extend jQuery and create re-usable javascript modules. I'll start off by showing how to create simple plugins and show how you can create composite re-usable controls.

We will also cover using jQuery in an ASP.NET MVC website.

Example code will be available in a public BitBucket repository.

On Tuesday, 24 July 2012 Chad Brooks from Microsoft will be our presenter.

I haven’t gotten the fully presentation description yet, but I think he was talking about presenting on something like Windows 8 for .NET developers using Metro Controls and Async.

The topic for this month's meeting is: 

Learn how to build great applications for Windows 8 and the Metro User Experience using familiar .Net Languages and XAML. During this talk, we will explore the breadth of controls available to the .Net Developer, programming using the async keyword, and how to build components that are consumable from other WinRT languages (like HTML5 and C++). 

Chad is an Architecture Evangelist for Microsoft and gets to spend his time doing cool stuff for cool companies using MS tech.
